Dedication for Soccer Complex At Five Mile Dam Officially Opens

The new Soccer Complex at Five Mile Dam Park was officially dedicated on September 18, 2010. The joint county-city project cost some $4.5 million and includes soccer fields – some lighted and with scoreboards – a playscape for children, a pavilion with a concession stand and walking trails.

The county purchased the 43 acres that the park sits on in 2004 and worked with the City of San Marcos, U.S. Soccer Foundation, LCRA, Texas Parks & Wildlife and Carma Developers to fund improvements that would complete the County’s Dudley Johnson and Randall Vetter Parks. Money from the 2007 park bond fund was also used.

“The Five Mile Dam Park Complex provides an inviting, accessible and much-needed recreational space for the entire family.” said Commissioner Ingalsbe at the ceremony.
