Yarrington Road Bridge Project Officially Starts

Yarrington Road Bridge Groundbreaking Ceremony

Hays County and its road construction partners held the official groundbreaking ceremony on August 15 for the new bridge and approaches over IH-35 at Yarrington Road. The improvements include a new 6-lane bridge with traffic signals at the intersections, sidewalks and turnarounds. The improvements are expected to be finished in 2016.

The IH-35/Yarrington Road Bridge project is part of the Pass-Through Finance Program, a partnership between Hays County and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). In cooperation with the Cities of Kyle and San Marcos, the project also includes signature bridge elements of the gateway bridge program, seen at other locations along IH-35 in Hays County. The new bridge and turnarounds are designed to improve safety and access. The construction cost is approximately $12.2 million.

This project supports the County’s economic goals at this important, heavily traveled location and continues the County’s desire to shift all frontage roads in the county to one-way operation – the County is pleased to report that the frontage roads from FM 150 to Yarrington Road began to operate as one-way on June 28.
