Hays County Proclaims May 6-10 as Economic Development Week

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX (May 6, 2019) – The Hays County Commissioners Court Tuesday proclaimed May 6-10 as Economic Development Week and thanked the Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) and area economic development offices for their work in attracting jobs to Hays County.

Adriana Cruz, president of GSMP, told the Court that GSMP appreciates being able to provide economic opportunities for residents of Hays County, and thanked Precinct 1 Commissioner Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe and Precinct 3 Commissioner Lon Shell for serving on the GSMP board of directors.

GSMP is a public-private partnership that serves as the regional economic development organization for the City of San Marcos, and Hays and Caldwell Counties, serving what is known as the Texas Innovation Corridor.

According to the proclamation, Hays County is the fastest-growing county in the country among populations over 200,000, based on year-over-year percentage growth. The Greater San Marcos region has been recognized as the heart of the Texas Innovation Corridor and collaborated with diverse stakeholders in 2010 to create a public-private partnership called the Greater San Marcos Partnership, which has since announced over 4,200 new jobs and $612 million in capital investment for the two-county region.
