The County’s total of lab-confirmed cases is 4,969; of those, 2,848 are considered active. The number of individuals considered recovered is 2,088. The number of negative tests is 21,898. Schneider is awaiting results on 52 tests.

“Seeing the case counts declining is good,” Schneider said. “but we need to remain vigilant. We encourage all Hays County residents to continue doing the things they’ve been doing: wearing masks, hand washing and distancing.”

Hays County has had 117 total hospitalizations and 16 people are currently hospitalized. Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in our numbers if they reside here. Likewise, an individual from another county who is in a local hospital would be accounted for in their county of residence.
