Hays County COVID-19 Update August 28

Hays County Local Health Department today reports 21 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases. Epidemiologist Eric Schneider also reports one new hospitalization, four hospital discharges and 51 additional recoveries. The County’s total of lab-confirmed cases is 5,361; of those, 2,348 are considered active. The number of individuals considered recovered is 2,967. The number of negative tests is 24,021. Schneider is awaiting results on 31 tests.

Hays County has had 143 total hospitalizations and 14 people are currently hospitalized. Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in our numbers if they reside here. Likewise, an individual from another county who is in a local hospital would be accounted for in their county of residence.

Schneider reminds the public that free COVID-19 testing is happening Saturday, Aug. 29, at San Marcos High School and the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center in Kyle between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at both sites. For more information, see this Facebook event.
