Hays County Local Health Department today reports 34 new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19. Epidemiologist Eric Schneider also reports three hospital discharges and 69 additional recoveries.
The total number of lab-confirmed cases is 5,560 with 1,953 of those considered active. The number of individuals considered recovered is 3,556. The number of negative tests is 25,517. Schneider is awaiting results on 34 tests.
He noted that the increase in negative lab reports is from a nursing home within the county that recently tested staff and residents.
Hays County has had 158 total hospitalizations and 13 people are currently hospitalized. Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in our numbers if they reside here. Likewise, an individual from another county who is in a local hospital would be accounted for in their county of residence.
