Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reports one COVID-related fatality, a Kyle man in his 90s. The department also reports 257 new lab-confirmed cases, six (6) new hospitalizations and nine (9) new hospital discharges. There are 146 additional people considered recovered at this time.
The current total of lab-confirmed cases for Hays County is 11,545. HCLHD removed 47 cases from the cumulative total during a routine audit; cases are removed for various reasons including out of county and duplicates.
Hays County has 1,808 active cases. The County has had 2,442 active cases in the last 21 days. There are 81,289 negative tests overall. The total number of recoveries is 9,599. Hays County has had 591 total COVID-related hospitalizations and 36 people are currently hospitalized.
Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra said new restrictions per the Governor’s Executive Orders are set to take effect in Hays County as soon as January 11 following seven consecutive days of COVID-19 hospitalizations at 15% or above for Trauma Service Area (TSA) O.
