Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – Due to a positive COVID-19 case of a staff member, the Kyle substation of the Hays County Tax Office will close April 12-15, 2021. See the information below for alternatives to the various tax services provided by the Kyle substation:
Paying Taxes:
- In person at any of our other tax office locations/substations: San Marcos, Wimberley, Dripping Springs
- Via drive-thru in San Marcos; see the Tax Office website for details: https://hayscountytx.com/departments/taxoffice/contact-the-tax-assessor-collector-office/
- Online payment portal (search for property first): https://tax.co.hays.tx.us/
- By phone: Please call 800.300.8007; Extension 9, Select ‘Search by Zip code’, then enter code: 78666 (to identify Hays County). A fee of 2.35%, or a minimum of $3.00, will be applied to the total bill.
- Via drop box; all of our office locations have drop boxes. The San Marcos drop box is labeled for the Tax Office and can be found at the front of the Government Center by the flag poles.

Motor Vehicle Transactions:
