Hays County to Offer COVID-19 Testing, Vaccines

Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) and the Office of Emergency Services are teaming up with the Texas Military Department to offer walk-up COVID-19 testing and vaccine clinics next week.

According to OES Director Mike Jones, the county recognizes the need for additional testing and vaccination opportunities.

“With our case counts on the rise, we know health clinics, pharmacies and Curative locations are overwhelmed right now,” he said. “These clinics will offer expanded capacity to test for COVID-19, in addition to vaccinating our residents.”

Jones said the sites will use rapid testing kits and results will be available within a few minutes. The clinics will offer Pfizer first and second dose vaccines as well as boosters for anyone age 12 and up. Testing will be available for those age 14 and over.

The Hays County Local Health Department recommends following up with PCR tests for any positive rapid tests, however, Director Tammy Crumley said positive results from the clinics will be reported to the Texas Department of State Health Services.
