Trautwein Road Closures; First of three will be in August

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will regrade Trautwein Road at its intersection with US 290. This project, which includes the construction of a dedicated right turn lane on westbound US 290 and the construction of retaining walls, is estimated to go into construction in 2024. In preparation for this roadway construction, all conflicting utilities in the area need to be relocated. West Travis County Public Utility Agency (WTCPUA) is relocating its existing waterline which requires the closure of the southernmost portion of Trautwein Road approaching US 290. Between August and October, this detour will be in place for two (2) days at a time, approximately three (3) times.

Travelers attempting to access US 290 via Trautwein Road will be diverted north on Trautwein Road, turn west on Oakwood Lane and south on Canyonwood Drive.  Travelers attempting to access Trautwein Road via US 290 will be diverted to turn north on Canyonwood Drive, east on Oakwood Lane, and south on Trautwein Road. Proper detour signage will be placed along the detour route to help travelers navigate the detour to arrive at their destination.

The first of the three (3) detour periods will be for two (2) days in August 2022. The exact dates for the work have not been established; the County will post the specific closure dates when that information becomes available.

Travelers should allow for additional time to navigate the detour route during this time period.

For any questions about the project, please contact WTCPUA at 512-263-0125 or email customerservice@wtcpua.org.
