Hays County supports Core Four initiatives

The Core Four Partnership is comprised of the City of San Marcos, Hays County, Texas State University and San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District. Under leadership by a Youth Services Director, the Core Four works to implement the recommendations and goals set forth by these entities and the Youth Master Plan.

Volunteers are needed for Big Brothers, Big Sisters – an initiative supported by the Core Four partners. See the info below. (Click image to enlarge.)

In addition, a Youth Mental Health First Aid Training takes place in April; that info is below.  

FREE Youth Mental Health First Aid Training (YMHFA) for Adults* Assisting Youth

The Core Four Partnership and the SMTX Mental Health Coalition will host a Youth Mental Health First Aid Training.

When: Monday, April 17 and 24, 5:30-8:30 p.m. both days
Where: San Marcos Activity Center, 501 East Hopkins Street in San Marcos

YMHFA is an early intervention tool that teaches adults how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in youth and help connect them to appropriate treatments and support.

*YOU MUST BE 18 OR OLDER TO ATTEND. SNACKS AND BEVERAGES WILL BE PROVIDED

This two-part six-hour training is offered through the partnership with Hill Country MHDDC at no cost to community members in Hays County. Those who attend must participate in both sessions to receive the three-year certification.

The training will be offered in English and Spanish.
