Hays County and Texas Department of Transportation held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the FM 2001 West Realignment project. This is the first of three projects to widen and realign the existing two-lane roadway between I-35 and SH 21.
This project phase realigned FM 2001 along White Wing Trail from the curve east of CR 118 to I-35. The work entailed widening the roadway from two lanes to a four-lane divided highway, adding five-foot bike lanes/shoulders and constructing six-foot sidewalks on each side.
The construction cost was $6 million and took just under two years to complete. Hunter Industries was the project contractor.
