Hays County Kicks off Connected Nation Broadband Survey

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – Broadband internet service is among the most important aspects of our modern technology driven world. Reliable access is critical for just about everyone from businesses to residential households.

Hays County is partnering with Connected Nation Texas and local community leaders from a variety of sectors with a common mission of enhancing and expanding broadband access, adoption and use. This coalition, called the Hays County Broadband Committee, includes county officials, city leaders, school districts, libraries, local business owners, chambers of commerce, hospitals, social service organizations, neighborhood groups and more. The group’s main goal is to gather data about reliable broadband access to benefit the needs of current and future Hays County residents.

The committee is conducting a survey of Hays County residents with the goal of gaining insight from nine important sectors: households, residents, businesses, agriculture, K-12, higher education, government, library and organizations, and public safety. The Connected Nation Broadband Survey, funded by St. David’s Foundation, is now open and will run until June 3.

Results from the survey will inform a broadband planning process for Hays County, offering a better understand of the existing resources and capabilities to support access, adoption and use of broadband technology in homes and businesses. After a structured evaluation of the assessment, Connected Nation will present recommended action plans and projects to Hays County to improve the county’s broadband environment most effectively.

Participation in the broadband survey and overall support of the effort is important in developing an accurate assessment of broadband availability and related needs in the county. Hays County encourages survey participation to get a true picture of the broadband needs for our residents and businesses, organizations, libraries and schools. The survey takes a few minutes and the results will benefit the entire county.

To take the survey as a resident, a business owner or designated representative of another organization, visit this website: https://www.myconnectedcommunity.org/hays-county/. From there, select the appropriate link for your sector. All information collected is confidential and used only for research purposes. Connected Nation will not sell, share or rent any data from the survey.
