Hays County COVID-19 Update June 22

Hays County Local Health Department today reports 160 new cases of COVID-19, along with one new hospitalization.

Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said the County’s total of lab-confirmed cases is 1,871, which includes 111 from the first three days of testing last week by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) – see note below about test results from TDEM.

Hays County now has 1,477 active cases. The total number of individuals considered recovered is 389.

The number of negative tests is 5,865. Schneider is awaiting results on 59 tests. Hays County has had 53 total hospitalizations; 14 people are currently hospitalized.

“We can slow the spread of the virus,” Schneider said, “but it will take the whole Hays County community.”

He reminded everyone that staying distanced in public, washing hands and wearing masks are simple but effective methods of helping to prevent transmission of COVID-19.

Note: the COVID-19 online Dashboard will be updated once daily.
