Mission Statement:
The mission of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office is to enhance the quality of life in Hays County by working in partnership with the community and other agencies to swiftly enforce the law, preserve the peace, reduce the fear of crime, and maintain order. This will be done by fighting crime both through deterrence and the relentless pursuit of criminals through cost-effective and efficient use of available resources.
The Sheriff’s Office is committed to treating all people with dignity, fairness, and respect, protecting their rights, and providing equal protection under the law. This includes those who have been incarcerated.
The Sheriff’s Office recognizes its members as its most valuable resource and will strive to maintain the quality of public service through committed leadership, supervisory direction, career development, succession planning, and training.

On July 12, 2023, the Texas Commission on Jail Standards completed a full on-site inspection of the Hays County Jail. The result of the inspection finds the Hays County Jail remains in full compliance, with no deficiencies noted.
