Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)/ Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are generally spread from person to person by sexual intercourse. Sexual intercourse includes anal, vaginal and oral sex. There are some STDs/STIs (hepatitis B or HIV) that are also spread through blood-to-blood contact, needle sharing, body piercing or tattoos.

Signs and symptoms: In women, signs and symptoms include: unusual discharge or smell from the vagina, burning or itching, bleeding from vagina not associated with a period and pelvic pain during intercourse. In men, signs and symptoms include: pus or other discharge from penis. For men and women,
