Permitting

All development, on-site sewage facilities (OSSF), food establishments and junkyards in the unincorporated areas of Hays County are required to obtain a permit.

All applications can be found online at www.MyGovernmentOnline.org. Please create an account/log-in to begin the application process. A PDF copy of all applications can be found under the Document & Forms page.

Development Application (Floodplain Permit)
Documents needed:

Development Application
Site Plan, Location Map, Floor Plan and Tax Account Summary
Application Fee(s) (see Fee Schedule)

Application Process: Once your application is received by Hays County Development Services, it will undergo an administrative review. This review may take several business days. Once the administrative review is complete, the application is assigned to an Inspector for a technical review. Upon completion of the technical review, the Inspector may issue the permit.

On-Site Sewage Facility (OSSF) Application
Documents needed:

Site Plan & Design, Location Map, Floor Plan and Tax Account Summary
Maintenance Affidavit & Two-Year Initial Maintenance Contract (advanced/aerobic systems only)
Application Fee(s) (see Fee Schedule)

Application Process: Once your application is received by Hays County Development Services, it will undergo an administrative review. This review may take several business days. Once the administrative review is complete, the application is assigned to an Inspector for a technical review. During the technical review, the Authorization to Construct may be issued. Upon completion of the technical review, the Inspector may issue the Notice of Approval (permit).

Food Establishment Applications
Documents needed:

There are several different types of food applications. Each application has a specific set of documents outlined in the application. Please find the correct application under the Documents & Forms page or online at www.MyGovernmentOnline.org.

Application Process: Once your application is received by Hays County Development Services, it will undergo an administrative review. This review may take several business days. Once the administrative review is complete, the application is assigned to an Inspector for a technical review. During the technical review, a pre-opening inspection will occur. Upon completion of the technical review, the Inspector may issue the Food Establishment Permit. This permit will be good for that calendar year.
