RULES FOR COURTROOM FOR THE
JUSTICE OF THE PEACE, PCT. 1 PL. 1
HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS
By the authority of the Justice of the Peace, Pct. 1, Pl. 1 set out below will be in effect in this Courtroom unless subsequently modified, changed or amended.
RULE 1 – Weapons & Backpacks
No knives of any size or backpacks allowed.
Pursuant to section 30.06 penal code (trespass by license holder with a concealed handgun), a person licensed under subchapter H, chapter 411, government code (Handgun licensing law), may not enter this property with a concealed handgun.
Pursuant to section 30.07, penal code (trespass by license holder with an openly carried handgun), a person licensed under subchapter H, chapter 411, government code (handgun licensing law) may not enter this property with a handgun that is carried openly.
RULE 2 – Court Attire
Shirts must be tucked in and pants pulled up. No drug or alcohol reference attire, no sunglasses, no flip-flops, no body piercing (except of ears), tattoos must be covered completely, no see through/revealing apparel, no tops that are low cut, show midriff, off the shoulder or have spaghetti straps, no hats, no bandanas, no tanks, no shorts, no costumes, no pajamas and no house slippers allowed.
RULE 3 – Behavior
No chewing gum, no food, no drinks, no alcohol, drugs or tobacco, no sleeping and no public display of affection allowed.
RULE 4 – Children, Minors and MHMR
All minor children must be accompanied by an adult. MHMR proceedings are not open to the public. No photographs or video recording allowed.
RULE 5 – Cell phones, electronic devices & video recording
Silence all cell phones and any other electronic devices. All video recording or live streaming MUST be approved by the Justice of the Peace 1-1 prior to court.
