The elected Hays County Treasurer acts as the chief liaison between the County and depository banks, and works closely with the Hays County Auditor’s Office to maintain an accountable checks and balances system. The Treasurer is designated as the County’s investment officer and is required to submit regular reports on County finance to the Commissioners Court.
The Treasurer’s Office prepares County payroll, and receives and deposits all County revenue, dispersing funds on the order of the Commissioners Court, records receipts and expenditures and reconciles bank statements, processes all in-going and outgoing County mail, maintains the official employee files and assists with employment verifications for entities seeking proof of an employee’s employment. The Office also manages the District Court Compliance office, which sets up payment plans for defendants, and reviews those plans.
