Jacob’s Well Development Master Plan

Hays County, in cooperation with the Wimberley Valley Watershed Association and The Nature Conservancy, acquired more than 81 acres of land surrounding and including Jacob’s Well in December 2010. Jacob’s Well is a significant artesian spring and underwater cave system associated with Cypress Creek, the underlying aquifer and the natural/cultural history of the County and the Texas Hill Country.

A Master Plan for development of the site was authorized by the Commissioners Court in June 2011. RVI Planning and Landscape Architecture of Austin was selected in August as the consultant to lead the planning effort.

A Stakeholders’ Group was formed the following month to help guide the process. The first public meeting to solicit input on development of the site was held January 19, 2012 (view the meeting presentation and the summary of the meeting). The Jacob’s Well Master Plan was finalized and adopted by the Hays County Commissioners Court in July 2012.
