The County Clerk’s Office includes two divisions – Records and Courts – both led by the elected County Clerk. The staff provides a number of services for the residents of Hays County, including the recording and maintenance of all Commissioners Court minutes, Official Public Records, and County Court Records.

County Clerk fee information is available as a PDF (Portable Document Format) and requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to be installed. Information about paying by credit card.

Plat map printing and issuance of writs are available ONLY at the San Marcos office. All other services are available at all four locations.

The department for official public records, including Commissioners Court archives, property deed recordings, liens, marriage licenses, birth and death certificates, beer and wine license applications, DBA’s, Military discharges, and Marks & Brands.

The department where criminal misdemeanor cases, civil, probate and guardianship cases are filed, accepts criminal payments, accepts original wills for filing (for probate or safekeeping), Letters of Testamentary, Administration and Guardianship, and issuance of citations.

All Substations — Dripping Springs, Kyle, and Wimberley will be closed the last 2 weeks of the year due to the holidays:  Dec. 23, 2019 – Jan. 1, 2020
The Clerk’s Offices will resume normal office hours on Jan. 2, 2020 – see below for each location’s regular days/hours.
Additionally, on November 22, 2019, the County Clerk’s Office in the Government Center in San Marcos will be closed 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; the Dripping Springs Clerk’s Office will be closed 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Wimberley Clerk’s Office will be closed 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
