Fridays, 8:00 a.m.- Noon
The County Clerk’s Office includes two divisions – Records and Courts – both led by the elected County Clerk. The staff provides a number of services for the residents of Hays County, including the recording and maintenance of all Commissioners Court minutes, Official Public Records, and County Court Records.
County Clerk fee information is available as a PDF (Portable Document Format) and requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to be installed. .
Plat map printing and issuance of writs are available ONLY at the San Marcos office, located inside the Government Center. All other services are available at all four locations.
At the 67th Annual Conference of Vital Statistics (virtual) held Dec. 7-9, 2021, the Hays County Clerk’s Office received the Exemplary Five Star Vital Registration Award from the Texas Department of Health, State Health Services Vital Statistics Section. This award is given annually. Award criteria include:
- TxEVER training – attending conferences and through a self-assessment survey;
- Customer Service – registering 100% of birth and death records within one business day;
- Security – maintaining 98% completion of searches ending with printed records; and
- TxEVER Maintenance – user to local administrator ratio of 20%.
