Hays County COVID-19 Update August 21

Hays County Local Health Department today reports 20 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases along with two (2) new hospitalizations and 47 additional recoveries.

Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said the County’s total of lab-confirmed cases is 5,250; of those, 2,425 are considered active. The number of individuals considered recovered is 2,780. The number of negative tests is 23,411. Schneider is awaiting results on 37 tests.

Hays County has had 134 total hospitalizations and 20 people are currently hospitalized. Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in our numbers if they reside here. Likewise, an individual from another county who is in a local hospital would be accounted for in their county of residence.

NOTE: Free COVID-19 testing through the Texas Division of Emergency Management will take place August 24-29 at two locations simultaneously: San Marcos High School and the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center in Kyle. Testing will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at both sites. For more information, see the this Facebook event.

Information about new permanent test sites operated by the county and its partners at Premiere ER and CommuniCare, will be shared once the details are finalized.
