Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reports 111 new lab-confirmed cases, no new hospitalizations or discharges, and 229 additional people now considered recovered.
The current total of lab-confirmed cases for Hays County is 10,635 with 1,636 current active cases. The County has had 2,301 active cases in the last 21 days. There are 75,538 negative tests overall. The total number of recoveries is 8,873. Hays County has had 550 total COVID-related hospitalizations and 49 people are currently hospitalized.
Please note – the HCLHD will not be reporting COVID case updates during the time Hays County is closed over the upcoming holiday break: January 1-3.
Epidemiologist Ian Harris said he continues to urge Hays County residents to do their part to slow the spread of the virus. He recommended small celebrations at home with people in your own household or virtual events with friends and extended family.
“I understand how much we all want to be with our family and friends, especially on New Year’s Eve,” he said. “But by being proactive now, we can avoid another surge and more hospitalizations in January.”
He added that if people go out tonight, they should wear masks, wash their hands and stay distanced from other people.
