Winter Weather Advisory for Hays County Jan. 20

FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE: Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Hays County from 3 a.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday. Mixed precipitation expected. Minor sleet/snow accumulations on grassy areas, and ice accumulations up to a few hundredths of an inch on mainly elevated, exposed surfaces. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

Don’t forget to take care of the Four Ps:
People (check on your neighbors)
Pets (bring them inside)
Plants (cover or bring inside)
Pipes (wrap to avoid freezing)

Plan on slippery road conditions, especially on elevated bridge and roadways, along with overpasses. Hazardous conditions may impact both morning and evening commutes. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

Hays County Office of Emergency Management has coordinated with various entities for warming stations if there are massive power outages across the county. We also have road crews set to engage should it be necessary.
