Curative Now Requires Proof of Insurance for COVID-19 Tests

The U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has announced that it is no longer able to accept claims for COVID-19 testing of uninsured patients due to lack of funding.

The impact of this announcement is that, effective immediately, Curative testing sites around Hays county are no longer able to provide free tests for uninsured patients. According to the HRSA website, claims for COVID testing and treatment will stop being accepted on March 22 at 11:59 p.m.

For patients testing at a Curative site in Texas starting March 18, proof of insurance will be required. A patient’s ID and proof of insurance information will be required for testing including to schedule an appointment online or to do on-site registration. The test will continue to be provided at no out-of-pocket cost upon proof of insurance.

The Hays County Local Health Department encourages uninsured individuals to check with their healthcare provider or other testing location in advance to learn how this announcement impacts them.
