Section of Robert S. Light Boulevard undergoes rehabilitation work

Hays County has a road rehabilitation project underway on Robert S. Light Boulevard/Buda Truck Bypass from the I-35 southbound frontage road to RM 967 (click map to enlarge). Work is anticipated to wrap up this fall, weather permitting.

The project is in Precinct 4, which is Commissioner Walt Smith’s precinct.

He said, “This roadway rehabilitation project is a joint operation between Hays County and the City of Buda. With the opening of the Robert S. Light extension, the rehabilitation project is the next step in finalizing this important connector road segment.”

Smith added, “We are grateful to the City of Buda for partnering with us on this endeavor.”

After milling the entire roadway, crews will perform spot repairs, place geogrid and do structural overlay work.

Here are some additional details about the project:

Description: The project is a roadway maintenance project between the City of Buda and Hays County that consists of spot repairs, geogrid, and structural overlay work. This construction work will be accomplished on half the roadway at a time. To accommodate traffic during construction, the Contractor will implement two-way traffic control on one side of the roadway.

The Contractor will mill the entire roadway, complete spot repairs, place geogrid and pave. Once this phase of work is completed, traffic will be shifted to the newly repaired roadway and work will begin on the remaining half. The same maintenance work will be completed during this phase until the entire roadway is completed.

Project Team: BGE was the Design Engineer. Volkert is completing Construction Engineering Inspection services for the project. Hunter Industries, Ltd. is the Contractor.
