Does Hays County perform daycare, rehab facilities, and foster care facility inspections?
The department performs sanitation inspections of Daycare facilities, rehab facilities, and foster homes so that they can obtain their State of Texas permits.
Is a permit required to operate a junkyard/automotive salvage yard in the county?
Yes, after application approval by Hays County Commissioners Court the department requires annual permitting.
What are some common signs that an On-Site Sewage System is not operating correctly?
Ponding/pooling of wastewater in the drain field, or surfacing wastewater around the tank. For aerobic systems: strong odor when sprinklers are spraying, audio or visual alarms are sounding off or visible on the control panel.

An Inspector will be able to answer your questions and make the necessary investigation.
